Here’s a self-portrait sketch made during a live portrait demo for the Denbighshire and District Art Society this afternoon. Graphite on A1 paper (84 x 59.5 cm) in approx 50 minutes. I also attempted a portrait of a Ukrainian lady who kindly volunteered to sit, however my sketch didn’t do her justice so I’m too embarrassed to post it! Still, it was good practice and great fun meeting and chatting with everyone! My thanks to Chris and the DAS for inviting me.

This is the result of a live self-portrait demo (using a mirror), painted whilst stewarding the ‘Take Four!’ art exhibition in August. (Acrylic on A1 paper 84cm x 59cm)

P.S. didn’t mean to make myself look like Popeye. It was a really heavy brush, honest… 😆

P.P.S. somebody must have stuffed a cushion up the front of my shirt when I wasn’t looking 🤔

Pictures from Chester Arts Fair 2018

Now that it’s over, here are some pictures from the Chester Arts Fair. This was my first ever art fair, and I must say I found the whole thing hugely enjoyable.

The live portrait demo in front of a roomful of people was somewhat daunting, but great fun and I’m very grateful to Neil for volunteering to sit. Hopefully, he enjoyed the experience and the result!

I met loads of fascinating people, both artists and collectors. If you stopped to look at my work and have a chat, I just want to say a big ‘Thank you!’ I really appreciated hearing your comments and feedback, and you definitely helped validate the direction I feel my work is taking.
