Here’re the two figures inspired by a duo pose from @richard_ruth_art as well as the catalogue from the recent Picasso and Paper exhibition at the @royalacademyarts. Ideally, I need to experiment with making each figure out of different coloured material, or painting or texturing the planes to differentiate the surfaces and individual figures (Frosted polypropylene 25cm x 23cm

Here’s the second figure inspired by a duo pose from @richard_ruth_art as well as the catalogue from the recent Picasso and Paper exhibition at the @royalacademyarts. This figure was really tricky and took several attempts, but still doesn’t feel quite as ‘resolved’ as the first one. (Frosted polypropylene 15cm x 23cm). Video of full duo pose to follow.

I was struggling with trying to find ways to play with three-dimensional form on the two-dimensional printmaking surface, a recalled the Cubists’ use of cardboard maquettes (of guitars etc) to try and work out their ideas, so these are my attempt to reverse the process and create depth using flatness.
